What is an SQL formatter?
An SQL formatter reorganizes a query with indentation, line breaks and consistent keyword casing to make it easier to read and review. It does not execute the query or connect to a database.
What is it useful for?
Use it while debugging queries, documenting database work, reviewing changes or sharing SQL with your team. Formatting changes the presentation, not the intended operation of the query.
SQL dialects
MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite and SQL Server share the SQL basics but differ in some functions and syntax. The formatter uses a conservative approach and does not claim to validate every dialect-specific detail.
Formatting versus minifying
Formatting improves readability with spacing and indentation. Minifying removes unnecessary whitespace to reduce the text size. Neither action executes SQL.

How do I format an SQL query?
Paste the query, choose the options you prefer and select Format SQL. The result is shown in the editor on the right.
Does this tool execute SQL?
No. It only transforms text in the browser and never connects to or executes queries against a database.
Does it work with MySQL and PostgreSQL?
It supports common SQL syntax from MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite, SQL Server and standard SQL. Dialect-specific validation is intentionally limited.
Can I format several queries at once?
Yes. Queries separated by semicolons are processed independently, except semicolons inside strings or comments.
Are comments preserved?
Comments are preserved by default. You can disable that option before formatting.
Can I minify SQL?
Yes. Minify SQL collapses unnecessary whitespace while protecting strings and comments according to the selected option.
Can I upload a SQL file?
Yes, you can load a .sql file up to 10 MB. The file is read for this session and is not executed.
Is my SQL stored?
No intentional permanent storage is used by this formatter. Avoid entering secrets or credentials in any online tool.
