DNS guide
What is DNS?
DNS translates readable domain names such as example.com into the addresses and services used by Internet servers.
Which DNS records exist?
A and AAAA point to IPv4 and IPv6 addresses; CNAME creates aliases; MX identifies mail servers; NS delegates authority; TXT publishes technical text; SOA describes a zone and CAA restricts certificate authorities.
Why check DNS?
DNS lookups help configure domains, diagnose issues, review email, verify changes and understand how a zone responds.
What is TTL?
TTL states how long a record may remain cached. Changes may take time to appear while existing caches expire.
